Lynchburg, VA - Democrat Mark Herring declared himself the winner in the Attorney General's race Wednesday, and is now announcing his transition team.
Unofficial state election results show Herring with a narrow lead of just 164 votes over Republican Mark Obenshain.
Herring says he has begun "the process of governing" by announcing the members of the transition team.
Lynchburg Commonwealth's Attorney Mike Doucette is on that team.
Doucette says he feels Herring will win, and he's honored to have been chosen.
"Not being from Northern Virginia, not being from the Richmond area, being sort of the Lynchburg representative is an exciting and a very humbling honor for me" he said.
The state board of elections will certify a winner in this race on November 25th. Following that certification, the losing candidate will likely file a request for a re-count.
