Lynchburg City School Board Presented with Technology Plan
Lynchburg, VA - During Tuesday night's Lynchburg City School Board meeting, Director of Information Technology Mr. David Childress presented his technology plan to the school board, which includes giving every teacher in pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade a laptop for the 2013-2014 school year.
This initiative is in preparation for a planned one-to-one initiative for grades 6-8 during the 2014-2015 school year, with eventual coverage of one-to-one in grades 4-12. To best prepare for the one-to-one initiative, LCS teachers need to have time to become comfortable with the technology themselves.
The successful one-to-one initiatives will continue in the two elementary schools for innovation and the one year-round school, as well as with some of the AP high school students.
This initiative supports the LCS comprehensive plan around achievement, behavior, culture, operations and personnel, and ensures that LCS fulfills its mission of Every Child, By Name and By Need, to Graduation.
