Lynchburg City Council Votes on New Tourism Program

Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg City Council has voted to establish a new Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The vote comes after the city and Chamber of Commerce could not agree on the renewal of a tourism service contract.

Council also voted to offer city jobs, to run the tourism program, to the chamber's existing tourism employees.

There are six full time employees.

The Chamber of Commerce is offering a severance package to any employee who does not accept a job with the city.

The city takes over the tourism program January 1.
