Lynchburg, VA - The Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce announced two pledges in the capital campaign for their new building.
Liberty University has pledged $100,000, and Centra $250,000. The money will go toward buying, renovating and furnishing the new chamber building and visitor's center slated to cost nearly $3 million.
These pledges have been added to a list of 25 other donors.
Jerry Falwell Jr. attended the announcement and said Liberty's pledge was a no-brainer.
"Liberty's growth depends on the infrastructure here in Lynchburg, the business community. And the chamber has really worked hard to get better highways to serve Lynchburg, better air service, and all of that is key to our growth," he said.
These two pledges put the chamber a quarter of the way to their goal of $2.9 million.
