Lynchburg Businesses Prepare for a Busy Graduation Weekend
Lynchburg, VA - Liberty University and Randolph College are both holding their commencement ceremonies this weekend. With it also being Mother's Day weekend, the Hill City, and area hotels, are going to be crowded.
Holiday Inn Downtown General Manager Tony Camm says all 241 rooms there are booked, and have been so for months.
"All hands on deck," Camm said. "Immediately after graduation, people start making reservations for next year's graduation."
2013 will mark Wasabi Steakhouse's first graduation season in business.
"We're excited about it.," said General Manager Shanna Hamlett.
Reservations are filling up as most people want the space to accommodate large parties.
"It's going to be a little hectic but we look forward to the challenge," said Hamlett.
The restaurant has 16 hibachi grills. Each seats 25, plus their bar and dining area. Like most restaurants, they are booking up fast.
"Before 4 p.m., we already have over 100 reservations," Hamlett said.
They also have 300 reservations for Saturday.
"As long as you're patient with us, we can get you in, we can work something out," Hamlett said.
The Holiday Inn is even upgrading a few people to honeymoon suites to meet demands.
"You may wind up with a heart shaped Jacuzzi tub," Camm said.
