Lynchburg - Liberty Flames running back Aldreakis Allen is eligible to play this weekend after serving his two-game suspension. But Flames Head Coach Turner Gill said Tuesday Allen will NOT play Saturday night at home against Morgan State.Gill said Allen has a lower body injury, Allen called it lower body soreness and fatigue issues as he tries to get back into football shape. Allen says he's disappointed he can't play this Saturday, but says he'll be on the sidelines rooting on his teammates.
Aldreakis Allen said "Every time I wake up in the morning I'm feeling better, I'm feeling stronger in my lower body and just more confident what I can do and I'm definitely feeling stronger."
Turner Gill said "It's a setback a little bit but again we don't harp on those things. We always talk to our players about, you know, if someone's hurt or not hurt, we're gonna play the next guy, he's gonna be prepared to play and go well."
Allen says he's happy to be back with the team, that he had feared his playing days at LU were over with his past legal issues. He says he's a changed person, that he has a lot more wisdom about where to be, how to be, people to be around and things to help him stay positive.
