LU Women Leave for NCAA Tournament

Lynchburg - The Big South champion Liberty WOMEN'S basketball team boarded the bus a little before 11 Friday morning and headed to Roanoke where they flew out en route to Louisville. The Flames, a 13 seed, face fourth-seeded Purdue in a first-round NCAA Tournament game Sunday at 12:10. Liberty has won its last 14 games, Purdue is ranked 21st in the country in both major polls.

Carey Green, LIBERTY FLAMES HEAD COACH, said "March Madness, you have a lot of upsets already in the first round on the guys side and I'm sure it's gonna happen on the women's side. And we're obviously the underdog but we don't feel that way. We're prepared."
Brittany Campbell, FLAMES R-SENIOR GUARD/FORWARD, said "Coach Green has just prepared us. You know he says at this point of the season he's not gonna make us physically quicker, stronger, faster. But right now it's just mental aspects and I think we're mentally tough."
