Lynchburg, VA - A buck is all Liberty University asked its student-athletes to donate and it got them a room full of school supplies - $1,100 worth of supplies.

LU is giving these school supplies to nearly a dozen Lynchburg City schools - Perrymont, Heritage, Bass to name a few.

LU says students need these supplies and that all the LU athletes were willing to donate. One athlete knows how helpful these supplies are from personal experience when he was a kid.

"It meant a lot to me. I felt like it was my duty since somebody had the heart to help me, it was my duty to help someone else," said Asa Chapman, LU football player.

A dollar can go a long way these days. If you want to help out, the school is still taking donations. You can drop school supplies or money off at the second floor of Williams Stadium on LU's campus.
