LU Aeronautics School Gets 10,000th Cessna

Campbell Co., VA - The 10,000th single-engine Cessna ever made at the Independence, Kansas factory arrived at the Liberty University School of Aeronautics Thursday.

The "Skyhawk" had just two hours on it, logged by test pilots when they picked it up. It now has ten hours on it after the flight to Virginia.

Assistant Provost Dave Young says the school's growth and relationship with Cessna helped them land the milestone aircraft.

"They had many opportunities to select other schools, other countries that are buying these airplanes, but they chose us. So that was a big honor," said Young.

The plane is one of three the school just received. Young said it is a favorite model for flight training.
