Local Teens to Perform at FloydFest on Friday
Lynchburg, VA - For a lot of teenagers summer means pool time, hanging out with friends, maybe even a job. But, some local teens are using their time off from school to make music.
The three are playing a set at Floyd Fest, the major summer music festival held each year in Floyd, Virginia.
16 year old Sully Smither from Huddleston, got his driver's license Wednesday, and Friday, he and his two band members will be playing a 45 minute set at Floyd Fest.
Smither is the lead singer of Harbor, a three member band. The group took part in a regional battle of the bands, the grand prize was a spot at Floyd Fest, and they walked away winners.
"I'm very nervous but I'm very excited. I don't really get nervous very much at shows anymore because I've played so much, but I have some nerves for this" said Smither.
The group performs Friday morning at 9. In the year they've been together, they've already played sets in Roanoke, Lynchburg, and Washington D.C.
