A Henry County school is one of two in the state receiving praise from the U.S. Department of Education for promoting energy efficiency and environmental awareness.
Magna Vista High School is being recognized by the Green Ribbon Schools Program.
The other is Stony Point Elementary in Albemarle County.
Both schools have substantially reduced energy usage in the past four years, have incorporated gardens into lessons and activities, and buy much of their food from local farms.
They will be invited to a recognition ceremony in Washington, D.C., in June.
