When Alexis Murphy went missing Saturday night, she had a little more than 11,000 followers on her Twitter page. In the past couple of days, her followers jumped up by more than 1,000.
Users are really taking advantage of Twitter's hashtags to spread pictures and updates on the search too. Several users are incorporating the #FindAlexisMurphy"in their tweets and accounts.
On Facebook, there's a page called Help Find Alexis Murphy. It was created just three days ago, and already it has more than 4,000 likes. The page is sharing posts from news outlets, including right here at ABC 13, hoping to reach anyone who may have information.
And Friday, a 21-year-old rapper from Charlottesville published a rap video called "Gone Missing" dedicated to Alexis Murphy on YouTube.
The rapper who goes by the name J-Willz and says he doesn't personally know Alexis, but he had some interactions with her via social media. He says he had been watching all of the news coverage on the search, and he just felt like he had to do something to let the family know there are people out there who care.
