Local Girl Scouts Receive Help from Rita's
Forest, VA - Some big help came in the form of a big check for local Girl Scouts Tuesday.
The owners of Rita's in Forest donated $500 to the Girl Scouts of the Virginia Skyline.
The regional group is going to use the cash towards construction of a spray park at the Girl Scout's Camp Sacajawea, in Bedford County.
The owners of the newly opened Rita's said they felt the need to help the local organization, which is completely nonprofit, and relies entirely on donations and fundraisers to function.
Girl Scout leaders say the money will go a long way towards helping the hundreds that use the camp every summer.
"It'll go a long way, yes. I think they've raised maybe $19,000 towards the spray pad so now we've got an extra $500, so this is fantastic" said T Lowery, a local troop Leader.
Lowery said the $500 check, is the equivalent of selling one thousand boxes of Girl Scout cookies.
