Families Come Out to Kmart's National Safety Weekend

Lynchburg, VA - A good crowd came out Saturday to Lynchburg's Kmart to meet local emergency responders for National Safety Weekend.

Several families were at the parking lot off Wards road to learn about the different equipment emergency personnel use.

There were firetrucks, police cars and boats. And as a special treat, Centra brought out a helicopter!

Virginia State Police, the Lynchburg Fire and Police Departments, the Campbell County Sheriff's Office , among others, took part.

"A lot of people just see the vehicles going by and don't know what's inside of them, see the helicoptors flying over and never get a chance to see it up close, so that's what we're promoting here," said Corey Osborne with the Lynchburg Kmart.

This is the third time the Lynchburg Kmart hosts the event. They will also be out there Sunday.
