Local Church Holds Prayer Vigil for Shooting Victims

Forest, VA - Even hundreds of miles away, people gathered to pray for those who were killed in Friday's shooting.

The Kirk Church in Forest held a prayer vigil Friday night.

The congregation gathered to mourn all those who were killed and pray for those families now suffering.

The group met for more than an hour, and were led by two pastors, both Connecticut natives.

The pastor of the Kirk Church, lived 20 miles from Newtown, Connecticut. He said today's devastating news hit home.

"We understand the power of prayer is what it is, and we know that we can intercede for people. We don't have to be there; we can be right here and make an impact. People say email travels fast, but prayer travels faster" said Pastor Al Stewart.
