Lynchburg, VA - Riverside Runners, Magnolia Foods and Bedford Avenue Meat Shop held the "Hot-Diggity-Dog" event Saturday to help support the Lynchburg Humane Society.
For $15, people could get a dog leash, a gourmet hot dog and homemade dessert. Of course, there were also treats for the stars of the event: The dogs.
Organizers say it's great for them because they get a chance to leave the shelter and interact with people. And often times, those dogs end up finding new homes at these events.
"All of the animals that we usually bring to off-site adoption events can be adopted at the event. They're already spayed and neutered, so if someone is interested in adopting, they can just fill out an application and bring them home today," said Lea Morin, development & campaign assistant at the Lynchburg Humane Society.
The Lynchburg Humane Society is in the process of building a new facility in Lynchburg. They hope to break ground at the end of September.
