Liberty's Title Hopes Take a Hit at Coastal
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) -- Coastal Carolina's LaDarius Hawthorne intercepted a pass and returned it 66 yards for a touchdown on Liberty's first possession, and the Chanticleers put away the Flames with 21 second-half points in a 36-12 victory on Saturday.
Jeremy Height ran for 99 yards and touchdowns in the second and third quarters for Coastal Caroliina (4-4, 2-1 Big South). The Chanticleers outgained the Flames (3-5, 2-1) 226 yards to 86 on the ground.
Liberty's Josh Woodrum threw three interceptions and one touchdown pass, to Pat Kelly, who caught 16 balls for 122 yards.
Coastal Carolina quarterback Aramis Hillary, who had accounted for 87 yards rushing and 113 passing, was carted off the field due to an injury with 7:51 left in the fourth quarter. He completed 13 of 21 passes with a touchdown, and he extended his school record to 180 consecutive passes without an interception.
