      Liberty's Cordell Chooses Pro Ball

      LYNCHBURG - Liberty centerfielder Ryan Cordell has decided to turn pro - foregoing his final year of eligibility.

      Baseball America reports the 11th round pick signed with the Texas Rangers organization for $100,000 and has been assigned to the Class A - short season Spokane Indians in the state of Washington.

      The junior from California started all of LU's 65 games this past season when he hit .261, with 6 home runs, and 40 RBIs. He also has speed - stealing 28 bases in 32 attempts.
