Liberty University Buys Sundae-Grill Building
Lynchburg, VA - A popular restaurant has been sold to Liberty University.
Sundae Grill near Candlers Station closed its doors December 17, and by the end of the month, LU owned it.
It's been a family-run business for more than a decade. University officials say the owners were looking to retire and approached the school with an offer to sell.
For Liberty, the property was just the right location - right in its backyard. A couple months later, the deal was done.
"We talked with them after that, and came to a realization that it was affordable for both of us, and because of the proximity to the campus, we purchased it," said Neal Askew, executive vice president of LU.
Liberty plans to lease out the building for someone to run as a restaurant. They say there are already some good prospects.
