Liberty Opens New Stadium With a Victory

LYNCHBURG - The Liberty Flames scored three times in the seventh inning to beat Penn State 4-1 Saturday afternoon in the opening of the Liberty Baseball Stadium.

Catcher Trey Wimmer's two-run RBI single snapped a 1-1 tie to give Liberty an advantage it never relinquished.

Wimmer said, via twitter: "Shout out to all the Flames fans for the support today. Indescribable how much your energy helped today."

Carson Herndon started and relievers Matt Marsh, Robert Gray and Ashton Perritt held the Nittany Lions without a run to preserve the victory.
