Liberty Ends Season With Win at VMI

LEXINGTON, Va. (AP/WSET) -- Aldreakis Allen and Sirchauncey Holloway combined for four touchdowns -- including two in the fourth quarter -- and Liberty defeated Virginia Military Institute 33-14 on Saturday in the season finale for both teams.

LU clinched a share of the title but after beating Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina is headed to the FCS playoffs. They had the best conference ROAD record, the Chanticleers beat out LU and Stony Brook.

VMI (2-9, 1-5 Big South Conference) took a 7-0 lead behind a 32-yard touchdown pass from Eric Kordenbrock with seven seconds left in the first quarter. But Liberty scored twice in the second quarter -- including a 3-yarder from Holloway -- to take a 14-7 advantage into halftime.

Kordenbrock threw his second touchdown pass of the day, this time a 6-yarder, to pull VMI within five, 19-14, to begin the fourth quarter.

Liberty (6-5, 4-1) used the ground game to control the final stanza, as Allen scored from 9 yards out to put the Flames ahead 26-14 and Holloway scored from the 1-yard line to create the final margin.

Kordenbrock finished with 220 passing yards for VMI.
