Lynchburg, VA- A Lynchburg family fighting cancer for a second time got a lot of help from the community Friday.
St. John's Day School hosted a lemonade stand to raise money for Edie and Emily Gilger. 4 year old Edie's neuroblastoma is remission right now, but her mother, Emily was diagnosed just weeks ago with the SAME cancer.
She was 30 weeks pregnant at the time and doctors delivered the little boy in Philadelphia last week and now it's time for Emily to start treatment there too. The preschool director says the Gilgers are a very big part of their school family.
"We just thought to ourselves, what can we do to help? So we thought about a lemonade stand and then it just started growing and growing," said Christie Hooper who is the Director of St. John's Day School.
All donations went directly to the Gilger family.
