Leggett's Santa to be Displayed at Lynchburg Museum

Lynchburg, VA - It was a staple of the holiday season here in Lynchburg for decades.

Now the Leggett's Department Store mechanical Santa and his eight moving reindeer are back.

The Lynchburg Museum got a call from Tom and Marilyn Jenkins of Christiansburg who had the Santa and offered to donate it.

It was a long process to verify that this was the real Leggett's Santa.

The family who operated the stores had to actually come down to the Museum to prove it.

If you remember, Leggett's moved from Main Street to River Ridge Mall in 1980 and then Belk bought out the brand.

If you want to reminisce, you can check out the Santa at the Lynchburg Museum starting Friday through the end of January.
