Roanoke, VA - One grocery store is honoring its employees who are breast cancer survivors in October.
Joyce Thompson of Roanoke is one of 48 associates who will be featured on custom packages of national and Kroger brand products. Thompson will be on Cottonelle packages.
"I am privileged to bring awareness to the issue of breast cancer by sharing my story," said Thompson. "Cancer has no boundaries and informing others of the need for mammograms is an honor for me."
Joyce's story and that of 47 other Kroger associates can be found on an interactive website dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness.
Kroger has also committed $3 million in donations for local breast cancer initiatives across the country to support National Breast Cancer Awareness month in October.
At the end of this year, Kroger will have donated more than $21 million to support breast cancer research, education and services since Giving Hope a Hand began in 2006.
