Kittens at Lynchburg Humane Society In Need of Foster Families
Lynchburg, VA - A deadly disease is killing kittens across the country and now it's spread to Lynchburg. The Humane Society says Panleuk has even affected kittens at the shelter. Right now in its old facility, it's tough for the kittens to make it through Spring and Summer because the shelter is so crowded. There are also some rusted surfaces and the kittens already have weak immune systems, so the animals desperately need foster parents. "Last year we lost about 134 kittens due to the poor conditions of our current facility. So this year, we started a new program called Kitten Warriors, where we are looking for those who are willing to foster the kittens until they are old enough to be spay or neutered, or put up for adoption," said Kim Haywood with the Lynchburg Humane Society. The Humane Society's new facility will be done soon, but they need help now. If you agree to foster a kitten, the shelter will help you with food and resources to take care of it.
