The loss snapped Danville's win streak at five. Jordan Edgerton and Fernelys Sanchez had two hits each for the Braves. Kingsport broke up a scoreless game by scoring one run in the 5th. The Mets led just 3-2 entering the ninth, but scored three runs in the top of the frame to take command.
Matt Tellor extended his hitting streak to nine games for Danville, going 1-for-4 with a single up the middle in the ninth inning.
Danville's bullpen had pitched 50.1 straight scoreless innings, but that streak came to an end in the sixth inning with Colby Holmes on the mound. The trio of Holmes, Kyle Kinman and Bradley Roney gave up five runs, one earned, in four innings of work, putting an end to the streak.
Danville and Kingsport will play the rubber match of the series Wednesday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. at American Legion Post 325 Field at Dan Daniel Memorial Park.
