Kids Stay Busy During Winter Break

Danville, VA-- Christmas is just days away, and schools are letting out for winter break. Instead of staying at home while parents are at work, some kids are taking part in the Danville Parks and Rec Winter Break program.

The program started on Friday and will end January 2nd. You still have time to get your child involved.

During the day, kids do arts and crafts and also go on outings. Organizers say it's a way to keep kids engaged.

"The kids are still engaged as if they were in school, Program Director for Danville Parks and Rec, Shanette Jenkins said. "They're not doing school work, but still doing arts and crafts, games, still getting their activities, stimulating their minds."

If you're interested in signing up, you can call the Coates Recreation Center at (434) 799- 6564
