Chatham, VA-- Several people got together at the Chatham Community Center on Friday night, for an anti-uranium rally.
The Martinsville NAACP put the rally together for the Keep the Ban Coalition.
There were several speakers educating the crowd on the dangers of uranium mining and urging them to spread the word about it. The organizer said she hopes the rally encourages people to take action.
"I want them to call their delegate, I want them to call their state senator, I want them to email, to write letters, to tell them no to uranium mining," President of Martinsville NAACP Naomi Hodge-Muse said.
There was also a speaker who talked about his experience working in a company that processed uranium back in the 80s. The man says that job negatively affected his health.
