Justin Case for March 30, 2011
Can VCU win it all?
I think they can but I don't think they will. VCU has won 5 in a row and I say they'll beat Butler but lose to Kentucky in the finals.
If VCU wants to keep Shaka Smart they're going to have to pony up some cash. He makes around 350k a year and he could be viewing this NCAA tourney
as a springboard for his career. VCU has a lot of seniors so Smart could be thinking this was his one and only year to shine in order to capitalize
on another coaching job in a power conference.
VT, UVa, LU and VMI spring football practices are going on. I'll be heading to VT later today. They have practice 7-9 pm so it won't be easy to get stuff
on the air Wednesday night but we'll have plenty of coverage of the Hokies over the next few weeks.
What I'll be looking at:
-Logan Thomas and David Wilson taking over the offense
-How good will the o-line be?
-New asst. coaches all around. I plan to interview Cornell Brown Wed. night
VT's Practice dates:
April 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18, 20, 22
Open Scrimmages: Sat., April 9; Fri., April 15
Spring Game: Sat., April 23
UVa - will Michael Rocco win the job at QB? The LCA guy, from my understanding is in the top 2. Question - Mike London had Eric Ward at Richmond - a dual threat QB that led them to the FCS nat'l champ. Will he favor
another dual threat guy - David Watford from the Va Beach area even though he's a true freshman this year. He enrolled in January. If so that's not good for Mike Rocco.
Liberty - Mike BRown (QB) and Chris Summers (WR) are back. They're very good. Summers should go in the NFL draft if he stays healthy.
Coach Danny Rocco always has a theme for the season. The "Quest Continues" for Liberty's squad that finished the 2010 season ranked No. 19 in the final FCS Coaches poll and No. 21 in the last Sports Network/Fathead.com listing.

MLB opening day is Thursday - the greatest day of the year. Baseball is my favorite sports. It's in my blood. The Reds are my team and since they made the playoffs for the first time in 15 years last year I have high hopes for 2011.
I went nuts when Jay Bruce hit a HR to clinch a playoff spot. I think they'll get there again. The Red Sox and Phillies are the big favorites heading into the season. I see them both getting to the playoffs but neither winning it all.
To pick the World Series winner in baseball is difficult. In the NBA you could pick 5 teams and chances are one of them will win it. MLB - no go. I think 10 teams could win it all with the Reds included.
That's all for now. Rock it out.
