Justin Case for March 20, 2012

The NCAA Tournament has deliveredagain.

In a span of less than three hours, two 15 seeds beat 2 seeds (Norfolk State over Mizz and Lehigh over Duke). The Ohio Bobcats as a 13 seed beat 4 seed Michigan and 12 seed South Florida to reach the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1964.

It's a great time to be a fan of teams in my native state of Ohio. Ohio became the first state ever to send 4 teams to the Sweet 16 (Ohio, Ohio State, Cincinnati and Xavier.)

I recently came back from covering UVa in Omaha and it was not a pleasant way for the Cavs to end the season. They got beat by 26 against Florida, and seniors Mike Scott and Sammy Zeglinski will have to remember that as their going away party. The locker room was silent after the game. Players did not say the loss was embarrassing though. They said they just got beat by a better team that day.

Looking to next year, it will be hard to replicate what they did this year. Scott is gone and coach Tony Bennett needs to find some scorers. Scott was the only 1 on 1 player they had. Joe Harris is a catch and shoot guy. Jontel Evans is a creator and a limited scorer.

Here's what UVa has coming in:

Rivals 5-star small forward Justin Anderson, who de-committed from Maryland earlier in the month and has been shown the light.

ESPN describes Anderson as a "high-octane wing with the ability to make game-changing plays at both ends of the floor."

Rivals 4-star Evan Nolte, Georgia's state player of the year, who can drive into the line as well as he can hit it from the perimeter while in transition.

Rivals 4-star Mike Tobey, the third ESPNU Top 100 in the class. He's a 6'11" center with raw, natural talent -- talent which includes having good hands in the paint!! That's certainly a welcome skill set for Cavaliers fans.

Congratulations to all of the area Full Court Press teams who went to states. Christiansburg (boys) was the only team that won a title.

Also, take a look at our two FCP Players of the Year: Marshall Wood of Rustburg and Staunton River's Jodi Salyer.{}
