Danville, VA - Hundreds turned out for a community wide job fair in Danville Thursday.
The Danville-Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce hosted employers and potential employees so they had the chance to meet face to face.
Thirty-one businesses were at today's job fair with dozens of jobs up for grabs.
A variety of fields were represented - from healthcare to retail and services.
The chamber says they were happy with the turn out, and as always, they were glad to provide the people in Southside with quality employment opportunities.
"We definitely want to give all of our job seekers an opportunity at some of the really good skilled jobs in the area," said Kate Farmer, business services manager for Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce.
"There's a lot of companies that really are looking for good qualified employees but people say, 'You can't find work.' Well, people need to get out and look," said Chamber Chairman Charles Haynesworth III.
Haynesworth was there also representing his business Office Plus and was hoping to hire a full-time employee.
Many of the prospective employers will be reaching out to candidates chosen to move forward in the application process within the next few weeks.
