Jimmie Johnson Wins Martinsville Pole
Martinsville - With just four races to go in the Chase, the NASCAR world focuses in on Martinsville this weekend. Qualifying was held Friday afternoon for Sunday's Tums Fast Relief 500.
Jimmie Johnson, second in points to Chase leader Brad Keselowski, hopped in his 48 Chevrolet and won the pole. J.J. was one of ten drivers to top 97 miles an hour. It's only the second time he's won the pole at Martinsville. The last time he did, he did NOT win the race but he has won six times. Dale Junior, returning after being out for two weeks while recovering from a concussion, qualified 20th.
Kasey Kahne, QUALIFIED 15TH, 5TH IN POINTS, said "It was Jeff or Jimmie's race the first race. It wasn't even close. Those two were by far better than the rest of the field and they got wiped out. One of them would have won the first race here for sure and other guys got lucky with their results because of that but I would say that they're favorites - Jeff, Jimmie and Denny - they always run good here."
