Bibby Golf Classic Raises Money for American Cancer Society
Forest - Close to 100 golfers took part in Friday's second-annual Jim Bibby Classic at Colonial Hills. Steve Hamlet of Forest hits the nice approach into 18. Bibby, the former big leaguer and longtime Lynchburg pitching coach, lost his battle with bone marrow cancer two-and-a-half years ago. Last year's event raised five thousand dollars each for the YMCA of Central Virginia and Children's Miracle Network. This year's proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
Tamara Bibby, ONE OF JIM BIBBY'S DAUGHTERS, said "It's awesome because I'm able to share my father with other people and my mom is able to share her husband with other people. So I think that that's the biggest thing that we're able to let others into our life and, you know, share him and to share his comic relief sometimes."
