Lynchburg, VA - The James River Batteau Festival is likely down one boat this year because of last week's flooding.
The Peaks' Shadow was built in Bedford County in 2005. The boat was soaking in the river last week, to swell the boards for the festival next month.
Swift water from recent heavy rains swept the batteau away.
It now rests against the Six Mile Bridge east of Lynchburg.
Crew members may attempt to salvage it.
The Peaks Shadow was built to replace another batteau destroyed in a flood. That was the Ole Sam, found tangled in a tree when the water receded.
