Investigators in Day Two of Search for Missing Lynchburg Teen
Lynchburg, VA - Police are now into day two of their search for a missing Lynchburg woman.
Jamisha Gilbert, 18, was last seen late Thursday night after she dropped her boyfriend off at home.
Police found her car early Friday morning, wrecked and abandoned on the Concord Turnpike.
Lynchburg Police Spokesperson Lt. Dave Gearhart said Monday they had around 45 people out searching.
Tuesday, they have about 70 people involved in the search.
Officials have been set up at a command post since 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Gearhart says they're getting help from State Police on the search, as well as the Amherst County Sheriff's Department.
The Lynchburg Fire and Police Departments are on the scene Tuesday as well.
Investigators are expanding the search area Tuesday from Winston Ridge Road to 460.
Investigators tell ABC 13 it will be mainly a foot search over some pretty rough terrain.
Gearhart says they have information that Gilbert was last seen in the area last, and added that they are looking for both evidence and Gilbert during their search.
Officials also believe Gilbert was driving her car the night she went missing, but cannot say whether she was driving when the car crashed, or if she was involved in the crash at all.
There are still a lot of questions that need to be answered at this point.
