Danville, VA -- The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville is making some changes. They plan on focusing more on their original mission by being more selective about which events they host at the Institute.
The Institute's core mission involves research and education. So, they hope to host more events that cater to those topics. They plan on getting involved in fewer things like weddings and parties.
But, they will continue to host many of the Chamber's events, because those involve economics, which they say is part of their mission.
"We've been in this building 9 years and if we are going to make a difference in terms of transforming the area economically and technologically, we need to stay focused on what we were originally founded upon," said Chris Horne, director of communications for the Institute.
The Institute will honor all events that they have already scheduled.
