Husband and Wife Duos Take On Annual Colt Starting Challenge
Chatham,VA-- A big annual event that challenges horse trainers to tame a wild horse in just three hours is coming back to Chatham on Saturday.
The third annual Colt Starting Challenge will be held at the Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex.
This year there's a twist to the challenge, the horse trainers will be husband and wife duos. The three couples will use their professional horsemanship skills to transform the unbroken horses. An obstacle course at the end will determine the winner.
Organizers said the crowd will learn plenty of tips.
"We've had a lot of people say they have dealt with horses for a number of years with some different results and different techniques and they always come away from here with a good response with a new way to do it and a better result for the horse," said Reggie Meades, Vice President of the SouthEastern Farriers & Horseowners Association.
The event starts at 10 a.m. Tickets are $15 at the door.
