Appomattox, VA - Hunters for the Hungry and Wal-Mart came together Tuesday to help needy families have a memorable Thanksgiving.
Wal-Mart organized the food drive all with food donated from Appomattox and surrounding communities. They were able to give away more than 650 boxes of food.
Hunters for the Hungry also gave out free venison.
Wal-Mart also made a $25,000 donation to Hunters for the Hungry to help out with their packaging and processing fees.
"Families are hurting; times right now are very difficult for a lot of families, and anything we can do to help better the quality of life we are going to do that. The timing for this was just perfect and Hunters for the Hungry is the perfect organization to partner with," said Jade White who is a Market Manager with Wal-Mart.
Hunters for the Hungry is more than 80,000 pounds short on venison from this time last year. They would really like to see your meat donations.
