Hung Jury in Charlotte Co. Murder Case
Charlotte Co., VA - The trial for a Charlotte County man charged with the county's first murder in nearly two years ended in a hung jury.
Wednesday, Akim Simmons was on trial for first-degree murder. He's accused of killing Alphonso Watson back in November.
The sheriff's office says Simmons was dating the victim's ex girlfriend.
When they got in to a dispute, Simmons allegedly shot Watson in the back of the neck.
An employee for the commonwealth's attorney says they will retry the case.
No date has been set, and Simmons remains in jail.
