Hundreds Tour Historic Homes in Garden Tour of Danville
Danville, VA - More than 600 people perused some neighborhoods in Southside on Thursday for the annual Garden Tour of Danville. The event is part of the Garden Club of Virginia's Historic Garden Week.Danville's tour highlighted homes on Millionaire's Row on Main Street, and homes in the Forest Hills neighborhood. The organizer said each of the four homes have unique architecture spanning from the late 1800's through the early 1900's."They really do respect the architecture of their homes and the grounds and they take great care in taking caring of them and preserving them and bringing them to life. The fact that they volunteered them for our benefit was great," said Kate Stokley Powell, Co-Chair of 2014 Garden Tour of Danville. All the money raised from Virginia Historic Garden Week go toward restoration and preservation of Virginia's historic gardens.
