Hundreds in South Boston Participate in National Day of Prayer

South Boston,VA-- Thursday is national day of prayer and hundreds of people in South Boston commemorated the day.

An event called "Pray for America" was held at Halifax County High School Thursday evening. The crowd prayed for our nation's leaders and thanked God for our country's freedom. They sang hymns, and country music singer Linda Davis took the stage, performing some of her hits.

Organizers say the good turn out, shows that the South Boston community knows the importance of prayer.

"Unity is a wonderful thing and we need a lot of unity in our community and in our world," said Reverend Russell Lee of First Presbyterian Church. "Coming together to be inspired and to be lifted up and to be encouraged, you can't get better than that.

Organizers also encouraged the crowd to not only pray for our nation today, but every day.
