Lynchburg, VA - If you live in Lynchburg, public works has a few reminders about how to get rid of your Christmas tree.
Residents can put their trees on the curb for crews to pick up on designated days. If your trash gets picked up on Monday or Tuesday, your tree will be collected on Saturday, January 4th.
Those with Wednesday or Thursday trash collection will have their trees collected on Friday January 10th. You can also drop your tree off until January 31st at these locations:
-All City drop-off recycling centers
-Miller Park (left side of the parking lot entering from Park Avenue)
-Riverside Park (back of tennis court parking lot)
-Peaks View Park (from Wiggington Road, the grassy area between the parking lot and rest rooms)
Danville, VA - If you live inDanville, the city is letting you know what to do with your Christmas tree onceyou take it down.
Your tree can be put on the curb andit will be picked up on the same day your trash is collected.
They can't have anything on them andthe tree stands must be removed.
No artificial trees will be collectedfor composting.
If you miss trash day, you can bringyour tree to the city's compost and mulch facility Monday through Friday offStinson Drive.
It's open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
RECYCLING REMINDER - With all the extra boxes associated with the holiday season, residents are encouraged to make use of the city's recycling drop-off sites. Cardboard, newspaper, mixed paper, plastic bottles #1 and #2, aluminum cans and glass containers are collected at the sites.
However, citizens should not place bows, ribbons, tissue paper and wrapping paper with contaminates such as glitter, foil and other non-paper items into the mixed paper container at the recycling drop-off sites because these materials hinder the marketability of the mixed paper.
The drop-off sites are located at Piedmont Mall (southwest corner), Tractor Supply (Kings Fairground Plaza), Ballou Park Shopping Center and South Boston Road at the intersection with Halifax Road (across the Public Works facility).
