Lynchburg, VA - The latest hospital rankings are out for the year.
Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center tops the list for Virginia, coming in the number one spot.
The findings are according to U.S. News and World Report, which put out the rankings.
Centra Health in Lynchburg ranked sixth in the state, but was named the best in Central Virginia. The hospital ranks high in eight areas, including diabetes, neurology, and orthopedics, among others.
The report found Centra Health had more than 32,000 admissions last year.
Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital ranked eighth in the state. The teaching hospital had six specialties that were recognized. Last year, the hospital had more than 34,000 admissions.
Johns Hopkins was named the top facility in the country.
