Holiday Travel Could Be Affected by Potential Allegiant Air Strike

      Roanoke, VA - Folks flying in and out of local airports this weekend may need to keep an eye on their itinerary.

      Allegiant Airlines recently sent emails to some passengers flying from Orlando to Roanoke Airport saying flights may be disrupted because of a strike by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which is a group representing Allegiant pilots.

      According to the letter, Allegiant believes they planned the strike to purposely affect holiday travel.

      The company is allowing passengers to reschedule flights or get a refund without paying a fee.

      No word yet on just why the group is planning to go on strike.

      Wednesday, a federal judge issued a restraining order preventing the pilots from going on strike.

      Allegiant says they hope travel will not be affected.

      We know how important the holiday is, and we want to give you the opportunity to minimize disruption of your travel plans. Allegiant is currently relaxing its cancellation and change fee policy for any flights scheduled through April 7, 2015. If you choose to make alternative arrangements, or not travel as planned, we will automatically issue you a refund.

      Here's what you can do:

      • Stay Informed. Sign up for flight-specific alerts at Check for Travel Advisories at Visit for answers to your frequently asked questions
      • Do nothing, if you'd like to make alternative travel plans and receive a refund. Passengers who do not check-in or board ("no-show") their flights scheduled through April 7, 2015 will receive an automatic refund. You do not need to take any action in order to receive your refund. Refunds will be issued to the original form of payment within 7-10 business days according to the policy below
      For passengers who choose to "no-show" for their flight: All flight segments, car, hotel and other product reservations booked through Allegiant from the date of first unused flight segment will automatically be canceled and any remaining balance will be refunded.

      Customers who have reservations on any flights scheduled through April 7, 2015 may change to any other flight in the current Allegiant schedule with no additional fee.

      • Let us know you if you want to reschedule. Please visit to submit your request. We will work through change requests in the order they are received. Please note that airport agents are not able to process your changes or refunds. Please be patient.

      We have activated additional call center staff, but due to higher than normal call volume, emailing us will be the most efficient way to make changes to your itinerary and reschedule flights.
