Pittsylvania Co., VA -- In the spirit of the season, one family in Blairs is hoping to make sure those in need have a brighter Christmas.
Barabara Shelton, a retired nurse, is hosting an open house this weekend. She's expecting hundreds of guests and hopes to raise a few thousand for families going through hard times.
She's decorated eight Christmas trees and put up thousands of lights already for those in the community to see.
Shelton says all proceeds will go toward buying Christmas presents for these families, and she will leave the gifts at their porch on Christmas Day.
"I'm sure they're gonna be surprised and happy. It's a blessing to me to help other people, and it makes me just so happy to know that other people in need have what they need," said Shelton.
The open house takes place at the Shelton residence located at 3533 Snakepath Rd. in Blairs, VA. They welcome to public to visit on Saturday, December 1st from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 2nd from 1:30 to 8 p.m.
