Hokies Prepare for Cincinnati

Blacksburg - Virginia Tech will play in Washington, D.C. Saturday against Cincinnati. The Bearcats and Hokies have one common opponent thus far - Pittsburgh. Cincy crushed 'em 34-to-10 and we all know what Tech did against Pitt.

Cincinnati has only played two games so far this season but Frank Beamer has seen enough to know they're going to be tough to beat.

Frank Beamer said - "They're by far the most athletic team we've played. They got people. They're well coached. They're experienced so I think this week will be a good measuring stick for us."

Cincinnati coach Butch Jones could say the same thing.

Logan Thomas said "People play us tough just because of our name and we would have it no other way so yeah I expect them to have this game circled as a big but we also got to have it circled as a big one because it helps us get better and get to where we want to go."

The Bearcats offense goes through quarterback Munchie Legaux and tailbacks George Winn and Ralph Abernathy.

Antone Exum said "Guys that are really good in the open field and can kind of make you miss. You've got to attack those guys and keep them in a tight box, keep them in a phone booth so to speak just so they have less room to try to make you miss."
Saturday's game will be the 10th meeting between Virginia Tech and Cincinnati. The Hokies lead the all time series 5-4 with their last win against the Bearcats coming in the Orange Bowl in Miami, following the 2008 season.
