Hokies Prep in Blacksburg for Bowl Game

Blacksburg - Bowl Night in Orlando for Virginia Tech is two weeks from Friday night, December 28. The 6-and-6 Hokies battle 9-and-3 Rutgers in the Russell Athletic Bowl, the former Champs Sports Bowl.

The Hokies are getting in some light work this week in Blacksburg, they'll leave for Orlando next Sunday morning, the 23rd to begin game-week preparations for the December 28th bowl.

It's not the bowl or season the Hokies wanted back in September, but at this point a bowl victory and a winning season would be huge for this group.

Frank Beamer, 20TH STRAIGHT BOWL GAME, said "This bowl game is real, real important. I think to finish with three wins would, that's what I'd like to talk about with this senior class. They got us through some disappointment and we ended up with three straight wins."

Antone Exum, HOKIES R-JUNIOR CORNERBACK, said "If you're a redshirt junior like me, we haven't won a bowl game yet since we've been here. So that's something that stays in the back of our mind."

Logan Thomas, HOKIES R-JUNIOR QUARTERBACK, said "Coach O'Cain described them as the second-best defense that we've played this year behind Florida State, so that means a lot."
