Virginia Tech sophomore guard Robert Brown has asked for a release from his scholarship and will transfer to a school closer to home. Brown is from Clermont, Florida - just outside of Orlando.

He averaged 6 points a game as a freshman and 8 this season but his shooting percentage dropped from 36 to 33 percent and his 3-point percentage dropped from 31 to 23 percent.
Brown's departure adds to the transfer list that also includes Tyrone Garland, who's now at LaSalle, and Montrezl Harrell, a recruit that originally committed to Tech before Seth Greenberg was fired. Harrell is now at Louisville averaging 16 minutes and 5 points a game as a freshman.
