      Hillcats Prep for New Season

Lynchburg - The defending Carolina League champion Lynchburg Hillcats open a new season this Friday night.

The Hillcats, getting in a workout Wednesday afternoon at Calvin Falwell Field, open defense of their title Friday night on the road at Potomac. Outfielder Matt Lipka, who was limited to 51 games in Lynchburg last year due to injuries, is rated as the Best Athlete in the Braves organization. Righthander Navery Moore, 8-and-3 last season at Class A Rome, is the scheduled starter Friday night. Manager Luis Salazar says defense should be a real strength, he thinks this team has got ALL the tools.

Luis Salazar, HILLCATS MANAGER, said - "It's a very exciting team and we have good pitching again and offense is going to carry us this year. We have a lot of kids who like to work and very excited to see these guys develop."
