Radford University's Summer Bridge Program Visits Areva

Lynchburg,VA - Radford University's Summer Bridge Program visited Areva in Lynchburg on Tuesday. Areva gave area high school students the tour of their facility and allowed them hands-on experience with some of their robots.

They are hoping this program gives students excitement about professions in science, engineering and math. This is a five day program and 62 girls are participating from all over the state.

"It's wonderful that they are giving these girls an opportunity to get in there and put their hands on these robots because that really makes an impression on the girls and maybe they will want to be an engineer as they get older," said Ann Brown, Director of Summer Bridge Program.

Brown said they want this program to allow women to feel confident about going into male-dominant professions.
